HOW IT WORKS
RENTAL LOCATION
Luverne Aquatics & Fitness - 802 N Blue Mound Ave
All rentals must begin and end at Luverne Aquatics & Fitness.
$10 per hour ($5 every half hour after first hour)
Riders are charged by the half hour until the bike is returned.

E-Bike rentals are available beginning in Spring. Rentals are available seasonally as weather conditions permit, likely until October 1.

Monday - Friday...........5 am - 9 pm
Saturday.......................7 am - 7 pm
Sunday.........................1 pm - 5 pm
Bikes must be returned before LAF closes.

What is an electric bike?
A pedal assist e-bike is a bicycle with an electric motor to help you along. You ride it much like you ride a normal bicycle, but with less effort. An e-bike motor works by automatically switching on the (quiet) motor when you pedal.
An electric bike is a power assisted bike that has an electric motor to assist pedaling. E-bikes simply amplify your pedaling effort. They pedal like a regular bike, but it makes obstacles like hills and headwind more manageable and allows you to travel further without getting as tired.
Electric bikes are basically just electric-powered motorcycles, right?
No, electric powered motorcycles use a throttle to engage the power. Luverne e-bikes are pedal-assist, so input to the pedals determines the level of assist. Riding an electric bike with pedal-assist is incredibly intuitive, and anyone who can ride a bike will immediately feel comfortable on one.
How do the Luverne e-bikes work?
These pedal assist systems measure the amount of power you are putting into the pedals and it will increase or decrease the electric assist based on your pedaling power.
Begin by pedaling the e-bike like a standard bicycle and adjust the pedal assist power to your preference.
What’s the best part about an e-bike?
Electric bikes break down barriers to riding. Most importantly, they are incredibly fun. Ride farther, see more, and explore the possibilities that come with a little extra power.
Where can I ride?
E-bikes are allowed on the Luverne Loop and Blue Mound Trail. Bicyclists are also allowed on city streets and must obey all traffic laws.
How fast will the e-bike go?
When pedaling, the highest speed with the motor is 20 mph.
Do I need to charge the e-bike battery?
No, staff will take care of ensuring batteries are charged between rentals.
What do I do if the e-bike battery dies during my rental?
You can continue to ride the bike as normal, however, it will be without any pedal assist.
What’s the range on a fully charged e-bike battery?
General range is 20-50 miles depending on power modes, terrain, and other riding conditions like load or wind. The more power assist used, the faster it will deplete the battery.
How do you turn the e-bike battery on/off?
Power to the e-bike is controlled from the handlebar. The power switch is on the left handle bar and is marked with the universal power symbol.
Can I adjust the seat?
Yes, the seat can quickly be adjusted with the lever under the seat.

Where can I rent the e-bikes?
Luverne e-bikes are located at Luverne Aquatics & Fitness, 802 N Blue Mound Ave. All bikes must be rented and returned to this location.
What size bike should I rent?
We have bikes in three different sizes—small, medium, and large.
General recommendations:
If you are 5’3” to 5’7” - rent a Small.
If you are 5’7” to 5’11” - rent a Medium.
If you are 5’11” to 6’3” - rent a Large.
You are free to rent any size bike that you feel comfortable riding.
How much does it cost per hour to rent?
You can rent a bike for $10.00 per hour. If your rental is under 60 minutes, you will be charged $10.00. After the first hour, the fee is $5.00 per every half hour.
How old do I have to be to ride?
You must be 16 years of age or older to rent an e-bike.
Is there a limit on the number of hours I can ride per rental?
No, there is no limit on the number of hours you can ride per rental.
What if I am late returning my rental?
You will be charged an additional penalty fee for returning the bike late.
How do I get a membership?
At this time, memberships are unavailable due to the limited number of bikes available.
Are helmets included in the rental?
Helmets are not included in the Luverne e-bikes program. Riders are encouraged to wear helmets for their safety. Riders assume all risk.
Can’t I rent bikes from the GrandStay for free??
"Luverne E-Bikes" is an amenity that complements the existing "Roll on Luverne" bike loan program.
Riders are able to borrow traditional bikes for free from the GrandStay hotel.
In contrast, the "Luverne E-Bikes" program is a pay-per-use rental program.
